Once you've placed your order, you'll receive an email to get your prescription Zeiss inserts all sorted. We'll need a couple more details from you, which we'll send to the Zeiss lab and then have your glazed insert ready for you in around 7-10 working days.

365 days any reason returns are accepted for all products that are unused. Please note that as this product contains a prescription that is custom to you, the cost of the prescription (£100) cannot be refunded. Check out our full returns policy here.

It's simple. If you break your eyewear due to a manufacturing defect, we will either repair or replace it, free of charge.

How the Lens Tech Works

Using technology developed by one of the world’s top lens manufacturers, the Alleycat features lenses from ZEISS’s Performance lens range. Developed with trail and road riding clarity in mind the performance lens range filters light to give you the optimum view of the environment ahead.

If you’re a MTB or gravel rider, you’ll want to check out our trail lenses. These are perfect for when you’re riding trees, tracks, or around vegetation, where the environment has a predominance of green and orange light that can overwhelm the eye. The trail lens filter reduces green and orange light, giving you greater clarity of the environment, improved depth perception and view of the trail like no other lens can offer.

If road is your vice, you’ll want to check out our road lenses (no surprises there!). In these environments there is a lot of neutral light reflected from the tarmac and a predominance of blue light from artificial lights that can overwhelm the eye. Our road lens filters out some of the blue light, whilst providing an equal distribution of neutral light, improving the road definition, your ability to see potential hazards and levelling up your colour balance perception.

Yes, you are buying a pair of Alleycat sunglasses including an optical clip + prescription from Zeiss

After you complete your purchase, you will receive an email from Melon with a no-hassle form, where you can add your prescription information. As soon as you complete the form, our team will be automatically notified and your prescription information will be submitted to Zeiss for production of your lenses.

Absolutely! If you’d prefer to do things with your regular optician rather than have Zeiss fit your lenses, you can buy the Alleycat optical clip only here and buy a pair of Alleycat sunglasses separately here

Whilst we can provide a refund or exchange for your Alleycat sunglasses if for instance if they do not fit you well, we are unable to offer returns for the prescription optical clip itself as the prescription is custom made for you

The Alleycat has easily interchangeable lenses and comes with a Zeiss low light lens included. If you want to grab some extra lenses, you can do so here and if you need just an extra low light lens, you can grab it here. You can see how to change your Alleycat lens here

The Alleycat lens ratings are as follows:

Low-Light = S0 (86% VLT)
Amber = S2 (29% VLT)
Violet Chrome = S2 (25% VLT)
Red Chrome = S2 (28% VLT)
Silver Chrome = S3 (19% VLT)
Smoke = S3 (19% VLT)
Photochromic = S0 – S3 (85% – 18% VLT)

The higher the category (and lower the VLT %) the more light the lens blocks, so an S2 lens is often good for if you’re riding in varying light conditions, whilst an S3 lens will perform best if you’re mostly riding bright conditions. Our photochromic lenses are not made by Zeiss, as Zeiss currently doesn’t make a photochromic lens in a shield option. However, they are from one of the worlds leading photochromic lens makers and the optical quality is also fantastic.

The main difference is in the lens technology. The Alleycat trail lens optimises for orange/green environments whereas the snow lens filters out more blue light, as there is a predominance of this in snowy environments. As a result, you’ll get much better definition, contrast and depth perception when in the snow. Also, the snow version doesn’t come with a low-light lens included, which the Alleycat Trail version does.

Best glasses ever (especially if you need glasses!)

Great clear lenses with no distortion and fit well. Best thing is the optical clip allowing you to add a prescription- after years of point and hope I can finally see the best lines and its improved my confidence massively

Nice glasses but not great customer service

The glasses are nice, decent build and look. The optical adaptor could be a better design, they stick out slightly beyond the front lense which doesn't look great.

But my main issue was the customer service or the ordering process. I placed my order and didn't get an official email saying it went through, just an automated PayPal message. I didn't receive any update on the progress i.e. prescription lenses created, ready for posting etc. I had to chase after 10 days with no glasses or communication. Some eventually replied with a date my glasses would arrive but they didn't. Had to email again to get an up to date answer. Eventually the glasses came I think after 15 days.

Exceptional clarity

Took my new Alleycat Optical Clip + Zeiss Prescription for the first outing in my Alleycat S shades at Ae forest. The optical clarity was super-sharp and the purple lenses really enhanced the contrast in the woodland sections. Very happy with these

Optical Clip….Why didn’t I do this before?

I’ve always used contact lenses to correct my vision when riding. Even when I ordered my Alleycats, I stuck with the contact lenses as it’s what I’m used to. But I decided to try the prescription optical clip for convenience and now I’m wishing I’d done it when I first bought the Alleycats. It’s a brilliant bit of design, totally secure inside the replacement nosebridge that comes with it. Ordering is very simple … you just need to enter the correct numbers in the pro forma which is sent out after you’ve placed the initial order. Very intuitive ordering experience and speedy delivery. I’ve also found the slightly longer nosebridge means the Alleycats sit a few mm further forward which reduces interference on my POC helmet . Highly recommended
